2024 Recent Practice Changes
Dear Families,
As many of you know, there have recently been significant changes at Harbor Pediatrics. Dr Michelis retired at the end of 2023. He found it necessary to step back from the practice to help attend to his wife’s recovery from COVID and related issues of long COVID. He has been sorely missed by patients and staff alike. His compassion, commitment, and dedication helped provide your children with superb medical care that we strive to continue.
Unfortunately, significant transitions can also result in new and unexpected changes. Soon after Dr Michelis’ departure, Dr Zelken announced that she would be stepping back from active practice to spend time with her family and other pursuits. She had been with Harbor Pediatrics for over seven years and had been an integral part of your children’s care. We were supremely grateful and appreciative of her service and dedication to the Harbor Pediatric families and realize that she has also been sorely missed.
Therefore, with great excitement, we announce that we have found our newest member of the Harbor Pediatrics family. Megen Sampson. Megen has been working in pediatrics for over twelve years and has tremendous experience. She spent five years doing general pediatrics in Florida and the Bay Area. More recently, she has worked for the past seven years, specifically in pediatric dermatology with Dr. Brandie Metz. Megen will be “onboarding,” familiarizing ourselves with our processes, and meeting our patients for the next few weeks. Like Drs Chen and Mendoza, she will see all the Harbor Pediatric patients, from birth till…
We realize that the recent and unforeseen changes may have been stressful for some of our families, and we have tried to ensure that the staff turnover has not impacted you. Drs Chen, Mendoza, and the staff at Harbor Pediatrics continue our commitment to providing your children with the excellent care that has defined Harbor Pediatrics for the past seventy years. We are very excited to have her join the Harbor Pediatrics family. We anticipate that Megen will have a tremendous positive impact on our families, and we hope you will have a chance to meet her soon. We thank you all for being flexible, understanding, and welcoming as we work through this transitional phase.
We look forward to continuing to provide you with the outstanding care Harbor Pediatrics has provided for over seventy years.
